Have used Westwood shutters for a few years, very friendly, and a fantastic customer service. The motor to the front entrance shutter to school broke, they were here within an hour, cut open the shutter and everybody got into school on time. I highly recommend Westwood to everybody for any roller shutter work.

About Manchester

Overview of Manchester, UK

Manchester, located in the northwest of England, is a vibrant city known for its rich industrial heritage, thriving commercial activity, diverse cultural scene, and active sporting community.

Manchester’s history dates back to Roman times when it was founded as the fort of Mamucium in AD 79. The city gained prominence during the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries, becoming a global center for textile manufacturing. This period saw the construction of many mills, canals, and railways, transforming Manchester into the world’s first industrial city. The legacy of this industrial past is evident in the city’s architecture and institutions, such as the Museum of Science and Industry and the iconic cotton mills. The city also played a crucial role in the development of modern socialism and trade unionism, highlighted by the Peterloo Massacre in 1819.

Today, Manchester boasts a diverse and robust economy. It is a major financial hub, with numerous banks, insurance companies, and legal firms based in the city. Spinningfields is the city’s main financial district, home to leading financial and professional services firms. Retail is another key sector, with the Trafford Centre and the Arndale Centre offering extensive shopping options. The Northern Quarter is known for its independent shops, boutiques, and cafes, contributing to Manchester’s reputation as a cultural and commercial hotspot.

Sport is integral to Manchester’s identity. The city is home to two of the world’s most famous football clubs: Manchester United and Manchester City. Manchester United plays at Old Trafford, while Manchester City’s home is the Etihad Stadium. Both clubs have massive global followings and contribute significantly to the city’s economy and culture.

Cricket is also popular, with Lancashire County Cricket Club based at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. Rugby league has a strong presence, with clubs like Salford Red Devils and Sale Sharks representing the city in professional leagues.
