Smoke and fire curtains for escalators and stairs should form a central part of any company's fire control procedures.
After all, the job of smoke and fire curtains is compartmentalising fires and limiting the spread of smoke and toxic gases, which are the prime cause of fatalities in many fires.
Escalators and stairs can act as a conduit, carrying smoke and gases to other floors unless they are properly compartmentalised with smoke and fire curtains.
Naturally, smoke and fire curtains for escalators and stairs do not impede access for people.
Large office and retail spaces particularly benefit from the use of smoke and fire curtains, blocking smoke and fire from key access areas like escalators.
