Have used Westwood shutters for a few years, very friendly, and a fantastic customer service. The motor to the front entrance shutter to school broke, they were here within an hour, cut open the shutter and everybody got into school on time. I highly recommend Westwood to everybody for any roller shutter work.

About Warrington

Warrington, located in Cheshire, UK, is a town known for its rich historical heritage, diverse commercial activity, vibrant cultural scene, and active sporting community.

Warrington’s history dates back to Roman times, when it served as an important crossing point on the River Mersey. The town’s name likely derives from “Werid,” an Old English word meaning “ford,” and “ington,” meaning settlement. Warrington grew significantly during the medieval period as a market town and continued to expand in the 18th and 19th centuries with the Industrial Revolution. The construction of the Bridgewater Canal and later the Manchester Ship Canal transformed Warrington into a major industrial hub, especially for textiles, chemicals, and brewing.

Today, Warrington boasts a diverse and thriving economy. The town is a significant commercial centre, with strong sectors in retail, logistics, and manufacturing. Birchwood Park is a key business hub, home to many companies in the nuclear, engineering, and technology sectors. Warrington’s strategic location between Liverpool and Manchester, with excellent motorway (M6, M62, and M56) and rail links, makes it an attractive location for businesses.

Retail is well-developed, with the Golden Square Shopping Centre offering a wide range of high-street brands, independent shops, and eateries. Warrington Market, recently revamped, provides a vibrant space for local traders selling fresh produce, artisanal goods, and street food. Additionally, the town’s economic landscape is supported by the Warrington Business Improvement District (BID), which works to enhance the local business environment.

Sport is an integral part of Warrington’s community life. The town is home to Warrington Wolves, one of the most successful rugby league clubs in the UK. The Wolves play their home matches at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, drawing passionate local support.

Football also has a strong presence, with Warrington Town FC competing in the Northern Premier League. The club plays at Cantilever Park, fostering local talent and community engagement.

Warrington offers excellent facilities for other sports, including cricket, athletics, and swimming. Victoria Park features a state-of-the-art athletics track and hosts various sporting events. The Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub provides a comprehensive leisure centre with swimming pools, a gym, and indoor sports courts.

Warrington boasts a range of attractions that reflect its rich cultural and historical heritage. The Warrington Museum & Art Gallery, one of the oldest museums in the country, offers diverse collections, including fine art, natural history, and local artefacts. The nearby Pyramid and Parr Hall host a variety of performances, from music and comedy to theatre and dance.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Walton Hall and Gardens provide a beautiful setting with landscaped gardens, a children’s zoo, and a golf course. Sankey Valley Park offers scenic walking and cycling routes along the canal, while the nearby Penketh and Sankey Brook areas provide tranquil spots for fishing and nature walks.

Warrington’s nightlife is lively and varied, catering to different tastes. The town centre features numerous pubs, bars, and restaurants, offering a mix of traditional and modern options. Popular venues include The Lower Angel, known for its real ales, and The Grill on New York Street, which offers contemporary dining.

Live entertainment can be enjoyed at the Parr Hall, which hosts concerts, comedy shows, and theatre productions. The town also has a vibrant music scene, with local venues like The Lounge and The Auction Rooms featuring live bands and DJ nights.

Warrington is a town that beautifully blends historical significance with modern vibrancy. From its Roman roots and industrial heritage to its thriving commercial activity and diverse cultural attractions, Warrington offers a rich and engaging experience for residents and visitors alike. The town’s active sporting community, scenic beauty, and lively nightlife make it a standout destination in Cheshire.
